Advantage of tapered roller bearing
This conical geometry is used as it gives a larger contact patch, which permits greater loads to be carried than with spherical (ball) bearings, while the geometry means that the tangential speeds of the surfaces of each of the rollers are the same as their raceways along the whole length of the contact patch and no differential scrubbing occurs. When a roller slides rather than rolls, it can generate wear at the roller-to-race interface, i.e. the differences in surface speeds create a scrubbing action. Wear will degenerate the close tolerances normally held in the bearing and can lead to other problems. Much closer to pure rolling can be achieved in a tapered roller bearing and this avoids rapid wear.
Tapered roller bearings mainly bear combined radial and axial loads. Bearing capacity depends on the raceway angle of the outer ring.This kind of bearing belongs to the separate type bearing, according to the number of columns of the rolling body in the bearing, it is divided into single row, double row and four rows of tapered roller bearing. The clearance of single-row tapered roller bearing shall be adjusted during installation. Double-row and four-row tapered roller bearing clearance have been given according to the requirements of the user at the time of delivery, without user adjustment.
Cone roller bearings have cone inner ring and outer ring raceway, cone roller arranged between the two. All projection lines on the surface of the cone meet at the same point on the bearing axis. This design makes tapered roller bearings especially suitable for bearing compound (radial and axial) loads. The axial load capacity of the bearing is largely determined by the contact Angle; The larger the Angle, the higher the axial load capacity. The Angle is expressed by the calculated coefficient e; The greater the value of e, the greater the contact Angle, the greater the bearing's suitability to bear axial load.
